Coming from a golf mad family, I was always destined to fall in love with the game. I have been a member of Hankley Common since the age of 10 and reached a single figure handicap by the time I was 13. I now play off scratch and play golf purely for enjoyment.

It was at Hankley that my interest for the history and heritage of courses first began. Growing up around my late grandfather, who had been a member at Hankley since 1950, and hearing about how the course has evolved, was really fascinating.

I studied Economics at Edinburgh University where I probably spent more time on the golf course than I did in the library (COVID may have had something to do with that!). I served as 1st Team Captain in my 3rd year and, subsequently, as President in my final year when I first realised that working in sports, and particularly golf, was a career I wanted to pursue. At Edinburgh, we were lucky enough to have an amazing fixture list which allowed me to play many of the best and most historic links courses in Scotland, which only enhanced my interest in the evolution of courses.

I initially started at Mackenzie & Ebert in September 2022 as an intern before heading off to Australia and New Zealand at the start of 2023 for four months of travelling (and a few rounds of golf!). When I returned, I was offered a role at Mackenzie & Ebert as an Historical Analyst & Design Assistant. My role involves extensive research of Club records and analysis of old aerial photographs to establish how features have changed since courses were first built, as well as assisting in the production of Masterplan Reports.
